Five excellent filmmakers this time took on the role of Jurors of the competition organized by TVN, in cooperation with Polish film schools. Agnieszka Smoczynska, director of such films as the Golden Lions-winning “Silent Twins,” as well as “Corki Dancingu” and “Fuga.” Jan Holoubek, creator of such pictures as “High Water,” “Doppelgänger. The Double” or ”The Mire.” Paweł Maslona, director of the acclaimed “Scarborn” and the series “Motive.” Bartek Ignaciuk, director of the series “Pati” and the hit film “Usta Usta”. Bartek Kaczmarek director of photography, responsible for "High Water," "Doppelgänger. The Double” or ‘25 Years of Innocence’.
The Jury officially received the scripts submitted by students of four film schools from the hands of Katarzyna Kieli, CEO of TVN, and Jaroslaw Potasz, TVN Production Director. The idea behind the competition is to promote XR technology and the technique of filming with advanced LED screens among future filmmakers.
Extended reality (XR), or virtual worlds created using the Unreal Engine and displayed on powerful LED screens, is an increasingly used tool in film production. Scenes for such blockbusters as House of the Dragon and The Batman, among others, were created in this way. XR technology is also conquering Polish film and advertising sets. Our flagship daily series “Na Wspolnej” has been using LED screens for more than a year.
Young filmmakers were challenged to write a script for an etude, which they would film using XR technology and LED screens at TVN XR Studio. The Jury took into consideration creativity, interesting dialogues and an ambitious approach to XR technology. After heated deliberations, Jury selected five scripts that will be filmed at TVN XR Studio, under the guidance of our experts.
The future filmmakers approached the competition very ambitiously. Soon we will be able to see the results of their work.
The first edition of the “Unleash Your Imagination” competition was attended by students from the Film School in Lodz, the Gdynia Film School, the Warsaw Film Shool and Krzysztof Kieslowski Film School at the University of Silesia.
